We purchased Sea Lodge in July1995 and moved into the property in the December.
Hi we're Tom & Jen and
we live at Sea Lodge.
The ornamental pond was about the only feature worth keeping in the rear garden.
The grass was almost non existant and had been badly attacked by moles.
Russian vine can be seen covering most of the trees in the background and at one stage had completely covered the workshop.
Construction of the hard landscaping to create an oriental feel to the garden.
Clearing Russian Vine from the West dune bank. This is pure sand and has almost no moisture retention.
The vine had killed many of the mature Hawthorns from a combination of shade and drought. Here a space is being cleared next to the workshop so that a greenhouse can be erected.
The back bank planted up, having built a retaining wall to stabilise the sand. The groin timber was recovered from the beach as was the drift wood to build the seat.
The garden begins to mature.

By the Summer of 2004 real progress can be seen.
Although the oriental garden could not be described as a wildlife garden, it is still managed with wildlife in mind and as such continues to attract a wide range of birds and insects.
